Program: Decolonizing Interpretation and Centering Indigenous Voices

Polly Olsen (Yakama), Burke Museum Tribal Liason, and Kate Fernandez will speak about their ongoing work decolonizing interpretation, and more broadly centering indigenous voices in the creation and programming of the Burke Museum. Following the discussion there will be a walking tour of the public galleries to highlight key areas where the work is evident. 

To help cover the cost of the room rental the cost of this program will be $10 for AKCHO members and $20 for non-members and will be collected at the door. Registration includes general admission into the museum, a $22 value. To check your membership status, click here or email treasurer@akcho.org.
There is no pre-registration.

Driving Directions:
From I-5, exit east onto NE 45th St. Travel east to 15th Ave NE. The museum is on the Northwest corner of UW campus between 15th Ave NE and Memorial Way NE.

Public Transportation:
Many buses serve the University District and can drop you within a block or two of the museum entrance. For timetables, routes and help, consult King County Metro’s trip planner tool.
