History exhibits and displays rely on labels—short texts that connect artifacts, images, ideas and stories—to communicate with visitors. But writing labels is harder than it looks. It takes time and training to write labels that visitors will actually stop to read.
Working with expert label writer/editor Judy Rand, AKCHO is pleased to present A New Approach to Label Writing: a one-day online webinar/workshop to help King County history and heritage museums build the skills needed to create engaging labels.
Organized to answer questions writers face as they wrestle with labels (How do you catch someone’s attention? How do you find a “voice”? How do you write on a deadline?), the workshop combines an introductory morning webinar with an afternoon clinic: writing activities, resources, and how-to advice. This workshop is generously funded by 4Culture.
This is a virtual workshop, and will be limited to a maximum of 15 participants; priority will be given to small organizations.
Registration for the event is closed.
