Nominate your candidate for Governor’s award
Article Date: June 30th, 2012
Category: Heritage Briefs

The deadline is looming for nominations of individuals or organizations for the Governor’s 2012 Arts & Heritage Awards. Sponsored by the Washington State Arts Commission, the Awards were established in 1966 to recognize individuals and artists for their significant contributions to the creative vitality of the state.

In 2010, WSAC temporarily suspended the Awards due to budgetary uncertainty and staffing capacity. With a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Awards program is resuming for 2012.

To be eligible for either the Arts or Heritage Awards, individuals or organizations must be current Washington residents or have resided in the state during the time the contributions were made, and not be a previous Governor’s Arts Award or Heritage Award recipient.  Deadline for nominations is July 12.  Click here for guidelines and nomination form.

Governor Chris Gregoire will present three Arts Awards and three Heritage Awards in September 2012.
