Annual meeting celebrates memories, makes plans
Article Date: January 31st, 2012
Category: February 2012, News

More than 70 AKCHO members gathered at the Museum of Flight on January 31 for AKCHO’s annual meeting.

For the entertainment portion of the meeting, Book-It Theatre presented its staged reading of “The Future Remembered,” based on the book written by Paula Becker and Alan Stein that recaps Seattle’s Century 21 Exposition fifty years ago.  Commissioned by 4Culture, this production is available for performances throughout the county – contact 4Culture Heritage Lead Eric Taylor for more information.  Becker and Stein were on hand to sell autographed copies of their book. Other members participating in AKCHO’s mini book fair were AKCHO past president Joe Follansbee, Dr. Lorraine McConaghy with MOHAI, Lisa Kranseler with the Washington State Jewish Historical Society, Barb Nilson and Dan Nicholas with the Maple Valley Historical Society, Eleanor Boba with the Rainier Valley Historical Society, and Alice Winship with Maritime Folknet.

During the business portion of the meeting, the membership approved the slate of officers for 2012.  John Chaney will serve as AKCHO president for a second term. Other AKCHO officers for 2012 include Alice Winship (vice president), Heather Trescases (recording secretary), Karen Meador (corresponding secretary), and Bob Fisher (treasurer). Fisher, Lisa Kranseler, Darby Riley and Dick Wagner were elected to second terms on the board, and the board is rounded out by Dick Peacock (membership chair), Jessie Cunningham (programs chair), Tom Hitzroth, and Mikala Woodward. Pat Filer continues to serve as chair of the Awards Committee and Vicki Stiles is overseeing the King County Collects book project.
