Judging by AKCHO’s online calendar, Santa is going to be very busy throughout King County this month! Visit the calendar for festive heritage-themed activities – from Santa visits and holiday open houses to sing-alongs and Christmas ship cruises. Take time to treat yourself, your family, and your friends to a holiday outing.

And when it comes to gift-giving, consider your local historical society or history museum as a source for wonderful gift ideas. Rainier Valley Historical Society has its own cookbook for sale, the Renton History Museum has apparel celebrating the area’s coal mining history, and both the Ballard Historical Society and Fall City Historical Society have 2011 calendars available. Check with your local heritage organization to see what merchandise they may have available – it’s a good way to find unique gifts and to support a worthwhile cause.
