In defense of Aristotle
About 2300 years ago a couple of pretty smart Greek guys developed philosophies of being, thinking and cultural evaluation. In fact, they invented philosophy, the first inquiry of life independent of theological creeds. Their thoughts were marvelously constructed and as formulas of reasoning, have stood the test of time. However, the two great philosophies have opposing themes. When evaluating Art, Science, Social Systems or Education, you are either judging by the philosophy of Plato or Aristotle. The Next 50: Innovation, Inspiration and Sustained Futures for Museums

Remembering Century 21
In the spirit of the 50th anniversary of Century 21, the Museum of History & Industry invites you to explore the memories, memorabilia, and myths of Seattle’s 1962 World’s Fair through a series of free community-wide workshops. Co-hosted by Seattle Public Library, King County Library System, and the Seattle Center Foundation, this series of workshops and seminars will teach the skills needed to discover, document, and share the fascinating history of one of Seattle’s most influential events through the use of personal experiences and collections. Heritage Advisor is published 10 times a year by the Association of King County Historical Organizations as a service to members and those who support its mission. AKCHO was established in 1977 to: encourage cooperation among historical organizations; promote and encourage the study and preservation of the history and heritage of King County through member organizations, individual members, and the community they serve; and support such preservation efforts through public awareness and understanding of legislative issues.
The Heritage Advisor welcomes submissions of news items, calendar items, and opinion columns from AKCHO members, HA subscribers, and readers. Articles are limited to 300 words and they should have a strong relevance to historic preservation and heritage issues in King County, Washington. Submission of an article does not guarantee publication. AKCHO does not pay for published submissions. All articles are subject to review by AKCHO staff.
