Funding HPP – debate continues, AKCHO responds

Charitable deductions under threat
The American Association of Museums recently offered a webinar titled “Congress Takes a Hard Look at Charitable Giving: How Will Museums Fare?” This topic should be of particular interest to lovers of arts and heritage in Washington state, because our own Senator Patty Murray is a co-chair of the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, the committee that will be exploring changes to the charitable tax deduction as part of their package of options to reduce the federal deficit. Their work must be completed by November 23, so there is no better time to make our voices heard on this issue. Read the rest of this article »
October AKCHO meeting recap
AKCHO members got a preview of the popular Friends of Georgetown History’s annual Haunted History Tour at AKCHO’s October membership meeting, which was held at The Stables in Georgetown on October 18. Heritage Advisor is published 10 times a year by the Association of King County Historical Organizations as a service to members and those who support its mission. AKCHO was established in 1977 to: encourage cooperation among historical organizations; promote and encourage the study and preservation of the history and heritage of King County through member organizations, individual members, and the community they serve; and support such preservation efforts through public awareness and understanding of legislative issues.
The Heritage Advisor welcomes submissions of news items, calendar items, and opinion columns from AKCHO members, HA subscribers, and readers. Articles are limited to 300 words and they should have a strong relevance to historic preservation and heritage issues in King County, Washington. Submission of an article does not guarantee publication. AKCHO does not pay for published submissions. All articles are subject to review by AKCHO staff. Please send your article within the body of an email (no attachments, please) to heritageadvisor@akcho.org.
AKCHO welcomes new members year round. Individual memberships are $15. Organization memberships are $35.
