Athletic Vashon
Vashon-Maury Island Heritage Museum
6/3 through 9/25/2011
This exhibit, curated by Dick Warren, covers athletics on Vashon since the 1890s and highlights the rivalry between Vashon and Burton High Schools, the teams during the Union High School period, and events since the opening of the current high school. There will even be a spotlight on non-school sports.
The Vashon-Maury Island Heritage Museum is located at 10105 Bank Road in the town of Vashon. Regular museum hours are 1-4 PM on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.
There will be a special opening reception on June 3 from 6-9 PM. www.vashonhistory.org
World War I Scale Models
The Museum of Flight
New permanent exhibit
One of the world’s most complete collections of scale models representing World War I aircraft has opened for permanent exhibit at The Museum of Flight. The Heritage Advisor welcomes submissions of news items, calendar items, and opinion columns from AKCHO members, HA subscribers, and readers. Articles are limited to 300 words and they should have a strong relevance to historic preservation and heritage issues in King County, Washington. Submission of an article does not guarantee publication. AKCHO does not pay for published submissions. All articles are subject to review by AKCHO staff.
