Program: Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Seattle World’s Fair
In 1962 Seattle invited to world to imagine a shared future at the Century 21 Exposition. In 2012, Seattle Center will host the 50th anniversary of the World’s Fair, and gather the community together to consider what the next 50 years will look like. From April 21 – October 21, there will be exhibits, demonstrations, concerts, speakers and more – a dynamic gathering of people and ideas.
Seattle Center Foundation is planning this momentous celebration, and many projects are already underway, including a commemorative book written by HistoryLink, a documentary in partnership with KCTS 9, and an exhibit with MOHAI. From photos of family trips to the Fair to first-hand accounts of Elvis’ visit, people’s memories are coming out of the woodwork.
Come see some of these memories, hear about the 50th anniversary celebration, and consider how you can be part of it.
For additional program information you may contact Todd Burley, Communications Director for the Seattle Center Foundation at 206-684-7211.
